Touch Typing Lesson 4: Capital Letters
Now that you know all the letter keys, let's learn to type them in capitals. To type the capital case of any letter, hold down the shift key while typing the letter key. You will notice there are two shift keys on your keyboard - one on each side. You should press the shift key with the pinky finger of the hand opposite the one you are typing the letter with. This way, you can maintain the correct hand position with your letter typing hand and more easily return to the home row position afterwards.
The Right Hand Capital Letters
We will begin typing capital letters with the right hand while using the left shift key.
Typing Exercise 4.1The Left Hand Capital Letters
Now let's practice typing left hand letters with the right shift key.
Typing Exercise 4.2Capital Letters on Both Hands
That wasn't too hard, was it? Let's put both hands together and practice switching between left and right hand shift keys.
